THE UNWANTED.

Surely any unwanted and undesirable emotive and unnatural physical responses, to absolutely anything, are what we seek to eliminate?

They are.

Anything that replaces it must surely be more acceptable than that which you choose to eliminate, for if it isn't then why bother?  Why not leave everything exactly as it is?  But who would want to do that having now reached this stage?

True?  Yes, No.

'I am so stressed out and I know I am, and it is making me ill.  So what do I do about it?'

'I have terrible neck ache and I don't want that.'

'Everything seems to wind me up.'

'I would rather do anything but that.'

'I have this incurable illness and I don't want that.'

Now who could argue with any of that, certainly not me?  Now I can't cure 'incurable illnesses', of which cancer springs readily to mind, but maybe you can.  Or if you can't cure it completely, because of the very nature of the beast and the extent to which it may have already developed, perhaps you will be happy to settle for halting its progress and stopping it dead in its tracks?  I am sure you would, if you could, and perhaps you can.  Take my philosophy, use it, practice it, and then expand upon it.  You may well be more than pleasantly surprised.
Should your illness, for example, be the result of a hereditary gene and there is a history of the disease in the family, can you accept that it might only have broken out, in you, because you 'believed it would'?  Or it only broke out because you 'expected it to' and if you could alter and change those beliefs and expectancies then you may well have prevent it, or now slow it down, and perhaps halt that which is already established from those previous wrong beliefs?  I do not promise you anything and particularly with very serious physical illness of which there are little know 'cures', other than a means by which you maybe able to do something for yourself.  The same applies to such things as epilepsy, where there is a 'believed by the Medical Profession', brain dis-function, but I have been a party to lowering the levels of stress to a point below that where the seizures are stimulated and the fits triggered.  Not a cure but a very welcome prevention.

You are, after all, what you believe yourself to be.  Not content with that? Then change the beliefs.

How?  Stay with it.

To summarise, if that is possible, and to put it all in a few words.

You are what you believe yourselves to be and not all those beliefs are good ones and beneficial ones, and it is those bad ones that cause you your problems.
Beliefs form a large part of the programming which Higher Intelligence uses to dictate to the Subconscious how you will react, both mentally and physically, to any given set of circumstances and those reactions will always be the same, whether you like them or not, as you have no means of establishing feedback through which you might make changes in the programming established in Higher Intelligence.
Having accepted that and now fully comprehending how Higher Intelligence functions and how all its programmes became established, you must use that understanding to 'persuade' Higher Intelligence to change.  You must get it to toss out the unwanted, modify where necessary other programmes and replace them all with more desirable and much more acceptable things.

You must remove the DIS from Discontent and then the Content that rules, as a result, must be everything that you desire and want for yourself.

WARNING.

You have spent a great deal of your time and your patience will be rewarded, establishing how, I believe, your mind works and how those workings effect your very being at both the mental and physical level.  I have often repeated myself or said the same thing, or similar, in many different ways.  There is sound and solid reasoning behind that.  It was and is, essential that I establish, in your mind, a basic philosophy on which you can expand and that I shall strive to do at all times.  You need to communicate with Higher Intelligence in a way that it will 'listen' to you and then having listened, do something about it.  Get it to accept your needs for change and the slow and often laborious build up to that is all part of it.  Only the unenlightened or those who wish to prove it doesn't work will jump straight in without preparation and then achieve nothing.  Why else would I go to all this trouble if it were not essential?

So!

You already understand how the mind works and now know that to make changes, and beneficial modifications, you need to be able to access the third level of consciousness, Higher Intelligence.
You also know and now realise that the Conscious mind is of little or no value in the context of my philosophy because it gets in the way and interferes, through its habitual practice of either modifying or distorting information before passing it through to Subconscious.  You also know that Subconscious has some access to Higher Intelligence but is reluctant to use that contact as it prefers the downward track where it takes undisputed information from Higher Intelligence and passes very little back in return.  You also understand that Higher Intelligence will, and does, make modifications to its programming if it is pressurised by constant repartition. I know and you now know that it modifies its programmes continuously according to the pressures placed upon it by Subconscious.  Therefore is it not right to assume that if the constant pressure placed on Higher Intelligence is removed it will not make so many modifications?  Is it not right to assume also that if pressure, the right kind of pressure, is placed upon it, it will make the right kind of changes?  Of course it is and that is just what I am preparing you to do.

So once again accepting that nothing is quite so simple and as always can be quite complex, you must approach it step by step in order to prepare yourselves and at the same time have a fuller understanding of what is happening, or about to happen and why.

Ideally you would like to communicate directly with Higher Intelligence but you know that that is impossible and that you must, reluctantly, go through Subconscious.  You know that Conscious, to all intent and purposes, serves no practical purpose in this as it is prone to interfere with everything and therefore will, with the best intentions in the world, work against you.  So you must rule out and avoid Conscious.

Having established that and once again accepting it, how then do you move Conscious to one-side and communicate with Subconscious in a manner that not only will it recognise, but that it will either react to or take action upon?

Remember when I discussed Subconscious?  I said that it reacted to information received from Conscious and took its directions from Higher Intelligence, but that also it was directly responsible for many of our emotional and creative attributes?  I said that Subconscious directly controlled dreams and daydreams.  I said it controlled our creative, our artistic and other talents and that it responded strongly to emotions and feelings.  Also the only time it seemed to concentrate on any of these was when Conscious was either slowed down or completely shut down altogether.  Remember the daydreaming when Conscious is almost shut down?  Remember how Subconscious guides the hands and whatever when you are being artistic and/or creative in any way?  Remember how I said that if Subconscious badgered and bombarded Higher Intelligence with strong repetitive emotional charges, Higher Intelligence would make changes to relieve the pressure and would never challenge or question why?

So you shut down Conscious, or otherwise occupy it, so that its natural interference, if not eliminated, is at least reduced to the minimum.  Bombard and harass Subconscious with highly charged emotive responses and do so in such a way that Higher Intelligence accepts it and from them makes the desired programme changes.  Simple in theory, not so simple in practice, but with patience and the correct approach it can be successfully done.

The removal or the bypassing of Conscious.

The only way to remove all interference from Conscious completely is to go to sleep and that, as you know, results in Subconscious stepping in and creating dreams.  Not an ideal situation for two main reasons.  While you are asleep you are not communicating with anyone or anything and the one, Subconscious, that you do want to communicate with, is busy with its dreams and other bodily functions.  So if you can side step Conscious and create for it a state were it is not actually asleep but where it is not very active either, then you make Subconscious that much more accessible.  Also if, while it is accessible, you can reduce pressure from it, it will be more cooperative and then once you gain that cooperation, you can work on it.  Assuming you can achieve all this, what do you then do when communication is established?  You change the beliefs, through Subconscious, by communicating with it in a way that not only does it understand but that it will act upon it and bring pressure to bare on Higher Intelligence to make permanent the beneficial changes requested.

So now what I am saying is that if you can side track the Conscious and reduce all bodily functions down to the very minimum, you then have Subconscious at its most vulnerable and susceptible?  Correct.  Then whist vulnerable you can then give it suggestions that it will act upon?  Again correct although not quite so simple although the principal is sound and holds good.

Now before you tell me, let me tell you.  This all sounds very much like Hypnotism and Hypnosis and the answer to that is, yes and no?  There are similarities and it maybe useful to clarify those before you go on.

A Hypnotist is an individual whom others believe has power over them.  A bold statement yet true, although the Hypnotist would be the last person to agree with that as they like to feel that they have something special and it has little to do with the other person.  Hypnosis is a technique that can be learned, although few have the ability to learn or the confidence to master the intricacies of the principals required to practice.  Of those who do make it, they then fall into two broad categories.  Firstly there is the entertainer and secondly the Hypnotherapist.  The first group don't know what to do with their 'skills' other than to exploit the vulnerable and humiliate them in return for some form of gain, usually financial.  They find that if they can attract a large enough audience, there will be among them, a small group of somnambulists (those persons extremely susceptible to suggestion) who will be sufficient, if drawn forward, to provide entertainment for others.  The people selected being the type and of the nature who readily accept the Hypnotic State and then from within it, accept suggestions, that you will note are suggestions that are inevitably accompanied by the obligatory suggestion that they will not be remembered, and will then go on to perform certain physical acts and react to certain stimuli that are all alien to their 'normal' personality and modes of behaviour.  The more bizarre the suggestions accepted the more successful the 'performance.'  These Hypnotists have, sadly, been rumoured to have, on occasions, done harm where not knowing their 'victims,' they have given totally inappropriate suggestions.  Which although they will rightly claim they can cause no harm, using the correct and accurate defence, that no one can be harmed by hypnosis and that no one accepts suggestions that they don't want to accept, have never the less caused distress and I have had experience of it.  Not causing it, I hasten to add, but sorting it out for others, later.

The second group are those who use hypnosis as a tool and as part of their trade, if you like.  They are the therapists with a good, background knowledge in psychology and psychotherapy etc. and use the techniques of hypnosis as part of their practice.

Sadly many fall into a category that is neither one nor the other but here we are not discussing the merits of Hypnotists and Hypnosis.

So in all cases what does the Hypnotist do?  He or she uses certain techniques, mainly vocal techniques, the swinging of a watch being confined mainly to films where they know it will have no effect and do no harm to the viewer, to attract and occupy the Conscious and as far as possible, close it down so that suggestions then given, as a follow up, go straight into the Subconscious where, depending on the susceptibility of the recipient, they are acted upon.  The 'Stage Hypnotist' will then use the opportunity of the hypnotic state to give suggestions that will result in behaviour patterns, of an entertaining nature, while the Therapist will give suggestions that can and will be used for analysis purposes and where the aim is to solve problems that are, by and large, of a psychosomatic nature.  But in each case the success or failure depends on the Hypnotist being present at the initial induction.  For those interested, I had a Hypnotherapy Practice for many years and was very successful although I had, as any honest practitioner will tell you, my share of failure.  But it was from that practice and those days, that I was able to go on and develop the techniques that you are now currently studying and are interested in, and which I have proved and aim to demonstrate to you, do not require a one to one rapport with a hypnotist.  So should you assume that I am going to teach you a modified form of self-hypnosis, then you are only partially right, as some of my techniques and practices gets very close to it in many ways.  But no!  At the end of it all you will not be a hypnotist but you will have a full and complete understanding of how it works as I am going to take that aspect of Hypnosis called the 'Altered State of Awareness' and I am going demonstrate how I developed and modified it and can now exploit it to your advantage.

For those interested, I may get round to teaching the techniques of Hypnosis, but not at the moment for I believe this is far more important and will serve your purposes much better.

The Altered State of Awareness is that point where the hypnotist is credited with having 'them' under his spell, under his control, in his power or what ever you want to call it.  I, on the other hand, am going to establish or create the Altered State of Awareness where you not only create it for yourself, but where you are completely in control of it, at all times and were no one and nothing can influence you, or it, without your knowledge and consent.  The Altered State of Awareness is a very pleasant state to be in, as you will soon learn, and where, once having got the hang of it, you will want to return time and time again.  But there would be little point to that if you failed to use this very pleasant experience to your advantage.

But there is still a way to go.  For before you even contemplate the Altered State of Awareness, you need to develop the techniques that you will use to get in there and you need to establish then, what you will do when you arrive there.  All this has then to be achieved in such a way that Higher Intelligence will not reject you.  A tall order but not if you approach it and systematically deal with it, a portion at a time.

A little experiment, with no predictable outcome, though with harmless results.

Read this, then, go lie down flat on your bed or on the floor, with a pillow or cushion under your head.  You can try both, on separate occasions, to determine which you believe works best for you.  Then close your eyes and try to think of something pleasant.  There are no restrictions on this and you can think about absolutely anything.  You can flit about, from subject to subject, just as much and as often as you like.  Then without checking, or looking, or in any way measuring the time, stay there; with your eyes closed, for what you 'feel' is about five minutes.  Then get up and resume where you left off and notice several things as you do so.  You are bound to feel somewhat different from that which you felt when you first laid down but, for the moment, leave it at that.  You will have started out, with eyes closed and thinking one thing and then perhaps thinking of several similar or even totally different and unrelated things, but will have ended up with something entirely different, or at least slightly removed from that which you started out with.  You have been through a very mild form of the Altered State of Awareness where, with your eyes closed, your Conscious mind partially gave in to your Subconscious and allowed you to think relatively undisturbed.  The one important thing that you will have experienced, though not consciously registered, is the fact that while you were laid and not moving your body, you placed less stress and pressure on your heart and breathing, among many other things, and this will have reduced the pressure on your Subconscious to monitor these items thus allowing it time to cooperate in your relaxing and thinking.  Hence the reason you will have felt, perhaps only marginally, different when you got up.

Don't attempt this next stage until you have experienced the above.  Jumping ahead is not cleaver and serves no practical purpose, (unless you want to prove it doesn't work?)

Try it again and see if this time you can place your hands, palms down and slightly out from the sides of your body.  Then without forcing it, just take deep breaths.  Don't hold them.  Just take natural, but deep breaths and then at the end of your estimated five minutes of 'thinking' see how much better that made you feel and how much Subconscious appreciated what you did.  As it is Subconscious that makes you feel as you do, albeit to Higher Intelligences dictates.

You fell asleep?  We all do that on occasions and it proves one thing, you needed the sleep, at that time, more than you needed anything else.  Forget about it.  At least the sleep will have done you some good and there will be ample opportunity to go back to what you were supposed to be doing.

You didn't really experience anything?  Yes you did.  It is just that your mind was so active and you were perhaps so tense, without perhaps realising it, or circumstances and conditions were not perhaps quite right, that the easiest get out for Subconscious was to register nothing.  It can and does happen, on occasions, and the secret is perseverance.  Go back to it and keep going back to it.  But even then be prepared to accept, so that you will not be disappointed in the future, that it does not work, as you might expect, every time, and that there is often good reason for that but it should not be sufficient to deter you.

You were disturbed, the door, the telephone, an individual perhaps?  Don't worry about that.  Make some simple and plausible excuse for what you were doing, but DON'T tell them exactly what that was, as their negative response, through lack of understanding and ignorance will destroy everything you were attempting to achieve and will set you back in your efforts.  Negative responses and vibrations from others should always be kept at arms length until you are at least strong enough to deal with them and you are not in the beginning.  'Having a brake.  Trying something the woman on television suggested as an exercise.  Resting my eyes.' Say anything; be economical with the truth even if you don't think you are believed.  It doesn't matter.  What does matter is you.  However the fact that you were disturbed will have made you jump and that in it's turn will have caused a surge of adrenalin that is not conducive to relaxing.  So do NOT try and go back to it for at least an hour and should there be a time or a day when you just can not fit it in, then skip that day altogether and do an extra one later.  Let that also apply at all other times in the future, for it is quite important.

There was yet another thing, unrealised no doubt, at this time, yet very important and about to play a big part in your future life.  When you took time out to do your exercise, you did, and probably for the first time, take some time out exclusively for yourself.  You and you alone were the sole beneficiary of that time.  It involved no one else.  You did it for no one else.  You did it for the most important person in the world.  You did it for YOU.  Out of a very busy day very few people take time out for themselves and they don't realise that by not doing so they are often compounding many of their problems.

If you have a very busy schedule and a 'one off' appointment comes along, that is so important that you cannot miss it, it is amazing how, even with a great deal of effort and rearranging, you manage to keep it.

Well if you can do that, then you can surely keep an appointment that is going to change your life?  Let this be the first time I have any direct influence over you when I tell you, and you will, 'From now on, circumstances permitting and common sense prevailing, take a period of time out, at some time everyday, exclusively for yourself.  For you are the most important person in the world and you deserve it and you will be the one to benefit from it and it is your right.  You belong to no one, unless you permit it, you are not dictated to, or controlled by, anything or anyone. You are you, and answerable only to yourself and how your actions and behaviour will affect you.  You determine what is good and bad for you, not others.'

Your first tentative steps into the Altered State of Awareness and although you may not have experienced very much so far, you are certainly going in the right direction.

If you could really get in there, what would you tell Higher Intelligence, or what would you tell Subconscious to do to bring pressure to bare on Higher Intelligence to make changes?

Surely you would tell it about 'all' the things you are not happy about, wouldn't you, and what would happen?  You would, assuming it accepted it all, bog it down and sadly achieve nothing.  Have you not already tried that, so many times before in the past, and found that nothing has happened?  Although you already know, that in reality, that it exactly what would happen is it not still very tempting to try again?  It is, but you must not.  Rejection is the one thing you cannot afford and constant rejection will lead to permanent rejection.  Slow but sure is the best way to ensure success for it is repetition, of one thing at once, with a strong emotive charge that it responds well to.  But out of the mass that you would like to, or be tempted to, throw in, how do you know what is effecting you the most, when you have already established that much of the route cause of 'Discontentment' is long 'forgotten'?  Remember, and this is important, I said that the one thing that is always there and is never 'hidden' or 'forgotten' is the emotive response.  How you 'Feel' about something, real or imagined.  So then if you can think of something that does have a readily available emotive response attached to it, then by tackling that are you not starting at the top of the pile and then with a little patience, standing some chance of working our way down through it?  Yes you are.

What you, therefore, now need is a memory that once 're-thought of' stimulates an emotional charge ('feeling') that you can convey, having successfully moved Conscious to one side and out of the way, to Subconscious.  Subconscious then, in turn, by virtue of the circumstances under which you are working, is prepared to cooperate and lobby Higher Intelligence and to do so in such a way that the emotive response, remember they greatly influence, or the first and new ones did, Higher Intelligence and therefore prompt it to either modify or re-write it's basic programmes.

Have a break and think about it, for when you come back that is exactly what I am going to do and in a very effective manner that will pleasantly surprise you.

Not only is it recommended that you have a break at this point, but it is also highly recommended that you spend at least a week practicing the above, simple exercise, before you make any attempt to move on, however tempting that may be.  The reasoning behind it is very simple, other than for the changes you may find in yourself.  My whole philosophy is a slow, steady, gradual and systematic build up and you cannot get ahead by taking short cuts.  To do so would be counterproductive and you will achieve NOTHING and don't you dare say, 'Oh I will because I can always go back and start again.'  It does not work like that and when I was in private practice I would withhold all the information, for the next stage, for at least a week, in most cases, to ensure people did not make the mistake of believing that it was OK to miss out what appears to be something simple and insignificant.  There is no such thing and each block has to be carefully put in its place.  So don't, out of stupidity, be one of my failures before you have even got started.  YOU SHOULD ALSO REMEMBER THIS RULE AND APPLY IT TO ALL SUBSEQUENT 'EXERCISES' UNLESS I TELL YOU OTHERWISE.

I FEEL SO STRONGLY ABOUT THIS AND CANNOT EMPHASIZE ITS IMPORTANCE TOO MUCH, THAT IF IT WERE PRACTICAL, I WOULD WITHHOLD THE NEXT SECTION FROM YOU FOR AT LEAST ONE WEEK FROM NOW.
(Patience and self-discipline are both hard task masters)
